Reflection by Viola Villena
Faith gives us a certain feeling of confidence and trust towards someone, towards something. It is technically defined by how we believe. We know that we hold on to something and someone and that’s simple faith, Yes, we define but we do not really know what it constitutes. Faith in God provides so many aspects that we do not know, that we yet have to unravel. We say I have faith in God, but do we know what we are really talking about.
My life once came to its lowest point, when everything seemed to be falling apart and the future looked so bleak. A family member got sick, business was not profitable enough, and my relationship with my partner was collapsing. How can I have faith that I will be saved from my struggles? It was as if my life took a dead end. A friend came, perhaps an angel in disguise. He told me “Believe! And believe that God will save you!”. How can I believe when I do not even see the God he was talking about? He invited me to attend a prayer meeting. I was a bit reluctant because I was never this person who took faith seriously. But I was still prompted by some chance I could not explain and I already found myself in the midst of people praying. It felt good the first time so I attended the second, third, fourth, fifth, until one day I found myself believing! Believing in someone I realized was so powerful even I do not see Him. And there, faith begins. My life took a leap and turned around in blessings of peace and rejuvenation. One at a time, everything came back to me.
Hebrews 11:1 says “Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” We believe, trust and surrender our lives to God even if we do not see Him. We feel confident and assured of His provisions and protection. We lift up to Him all our problems, worries, sadness and we see miraculously how He responds to us, how He blesses us. Our prayers are always heard, our petitions are always granted. Believe and we will receive our graces lavishly. We have a generous, loving, kind, and merciful God. We just have to believe.
DECLARATION PRAYER
Father, I have faith in you. You are my provider, protector and power. I praise you for giving me the faith to believe that nothing is impossible with you. You even said in Mark 11:24 “Therefore I tell you whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours.” Thank you for your infinite love. Thank you for Your promise to keep me and watch over my life now and forever. I look to you and I trust you. Thank you, Jesus! Amen.
