Luke 6:45
For the mouth speaks that which fills his heart
The Bible gives us insights on how we can see and know the condition of the hearts of people. In Luke 6:45 the bible says: “For the mouth speaks that which fills his heart.” It is imperative that we know when a person speaks, it is an overflow of what is inside his heart. Keeping this in mind, will allow us to evaluate ourselves.
We are all encouraged to evaluate our own spiritual condition by looking for the fruit in our own lives. If our personal evaluation shows there is no good fruit in our lives, then we have a cause for concern. Jesus makes the point that good fruits, such as love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, and self-control come from a heart that has been changed by God. If we find ourselves not producing these fruits and we are full of anger and negative emotions and reactions, we should take time to turn back to God and ask His help to transform our minds and our hearts. This way, we don’t cause unnecessary pain to others.
Prayer :
“Father God, please give me a teachable heart so I may learn to have self-control. I recognize that I need you in every aspect of my life so I lift up the condition of my heart to you. Guide my thoughts and ways and teach me how to guard my heart so I do not misrepresent You to others. I believe that You created all of us in Your own image and likeness. And so Lord, I pray that You help me make my actions and words sound like You. I ask this in Christ’s name, AMEN.”
We can bear good fruits in our lives when we regularly check the condition of our hearts with God in prayer!
