In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves. - Psalm 127:2
Why is it that people equate taking care of one self as selfish & pathetic? Why do we push ourselves to overgive and be overbooked? Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19) and we should take care of His address in order to give the best of us and not what’s left of us.
Now-a-days, wellness and self care should look ‘instagrammable’. Taking care of oneself shouldn’t be expensive. You don’t always have to buy club shares or spa gift checks to relax. Self care is not a luxury. The Lord will not require self care if he’ll make it hard for us to achieve it. Simple things like taking a long bath, sleeping earlier than usual or wearing your favorite perfume to feel great even when you are just working from home are some ways to treat yourself in order to replenish your energy or prioritize your wellbeing.
When was the last time you rewarded yourself for a job well done? Remember nurturing yourself is also nurturing the Holy Spirit’s residential address.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You for residing in me. I want to take care of my body so with long life, I can continue serving the Lord. Nudge me when I push myself to the limits and remind me to be a gentle steward of my body. May my whole body give you glory and praise until my last breath.
In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
