“Lord, restore me to health and let me live!”

“Lord, restore me to health and let me live!”

Reflection by Keeshia Marcial

I lost 2 beautiful souls to COVID last April 8; the day I found out I was also positive of the virus. As I prepare my own isolation-- sadness, grief and fear dawned on me. The tears did not help ease the physical pain I am feeling as I attend their online memorial services but my family, friends & colleagues helped me make it through. It wasn’t easy even though my only symptoms were high fever and pain in my shoulder blades. I have one cough scare where I think I choked when I stood up from my bed and the coughing did not end until I called my Medical Team, put on oxygen, sip a little water and strike my chest repeatedly.

I recovered already and was given a clearance 14 days from my positive result. My major symptoms were gone already 9 days after the positive result but I still need to complete my isolation.

During my weakest moment, all I can utter is Isaiah 38:16 – “Lord, restore me to health and let me live!” The Lord gave me all the help and resources I needed during those days. While in isolation, I appreciated all the things I usually took for granted – the sun, the fresh air, sense of taste, sense of smell, clean water. The Lord restored me to health. I am grateful I am alive. I am still sad that my 2 friends did not make it. But now, my life will be lived in full potential to honor the lives of these 2 angels.
